We live in a time when a person’s greatness is measured by its public recognition. Well, greatness can also be found in a person’s humble character. The Lighthouse Community Church just said good-bye to such an individual. This man was Oneal McCann. So much of the ministries growth and ability to reach out to its community was a result of his faithful commitment to giving. And all that can be said is that he loved his fellowship as he loved his God: without measure. And though the years took a toll on his mortal body, they never could steal his desire to serve God or his peaceful anticipation to receive his Heavenly reward.
We stand on higher places because of what God accomplished through this man and are the better for it. It is a debt we can never repay. All we can do is take that advantage and multiply it to the glory of God and for the benefit of future generations. This is the Will of God; this was Oneal’s living legacy. No fanfare, just faith. No talk, just giving. Not a public spectacle, just a simple pillar of strength for many who might never know his name or see his face. You were always there, and now you’re not. But you played such a tremendous part in our lives. And we salute your testimony (though we know you’d HATE the attention). In a simple manner you’d say, “I thank God for His Son, Jesus Christ”. Well said, Bro. Oneal. So now we say, “We thank God for the honor and privilege of serving along side Oneal McCann: a simple man of faith who lived to serve and got it so right.”
Godspeed, Bro. Oneal. We’ll see you later.
